New Gig
Here is a glimpse of my new gig.
"Remembering... Photos to Fine Art..."
This is a photoshoot of your House, Garden or Villa. It could be all of it, or just a small little special detail. These photos are then transformed into a piece of Personalized Creative Art and delivered on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. What a great treasure to take along with you to your next destination. Here are a few I have done so far. They also make great note cards. Not too expensive either.... If you click on the image you can see the brush details and uniqueness of each one. Is "uniqueness" a word? If you are interested, Call for an appointment 557-3807...
It's almost the weekend in Doha, weather is getting really warm, we're getting saddled up for the Texas A&M Boot Scoot Friday night, YEE HAW!!!
(Too bad Chris doesn't have his tight Wranglers here with him, I think he retired those a few years ago after wearing them to the FFA auction in Magnolia and started sweating profusely when I bought 3 pigs! )
Now, if we could only get good Mexican food.

Good Morning!
"I am going into animal photography. For the next few weeks the only thing I can think about is this cute face."
There are certain things in life that thrill us beyond happiness, babies smiles, seeing something you have dreamed of your whole life, (sequoia trees, St. Franscis), simple everyday pleasures like cuddling with my husband at night, taking that amazing shot, a chocolate Lindt Ball (the black new ones) and PUPPIES!
Still no name.

DELIGHTED IN DOHA!
At this very moment, this little booger is chewing on my feet while I BLOG the DOG! We haven't named her yet... But narrowed it down to IZZY, ZIGGY, LUCY, TIKA, Q, or BELLA.
What is your vote?
It is only appropriate that my sweet mother sent me a video this morning of Dirt Roads, telling me it reminded her her Dog Walk Road in Chancy... (Click on the words above, you can view it too.) If any of you have been there, you will understand the sentimental value that road is to me. I searched and found one picture of it to share. Of the few folks that have had the chance of walking down the road, I treasure those moments. From the Lauper's vineyards draping with Chasllies grapes above, the line of 6 walnut trees, Cemetary gate Aymon made, the Chancy dip in the background, to the fields of sunflowers. WOW. If only I had a dog walk road in Doha.
I will be searching for one soon...

Hearts of Marcia
What's new with Patrizi Photography
We are busy in the middle of Sport Team Photos at The American School of Doha at this time. Here is a view of the composite I did today. In the middle, in the back... #21 Josh Townsend, Ashlynn's sweet boyfriend, today is their 2 month Anniversary, Ahhhhhh so sweet. We celebrated by teaching him how to peel and chop garlic tonight. He is 13" taller than she is. This JV team won second place this weekend in Dubai. WAY TO GO DRAGONS!!!
Doing DOHA
Yes, There really are camels in Doha. Anybody know a good dentist? The camels were watching, as we added this kissing picture to our collection. We enjoyed our first dune bashing weekend with the Ix Family, who were our first visitors from Geneva. Now I know why the Arabs drive so crazy on the concrete, after experiencing what they do in the desert. Just getting there was enough to send me over the edge.
Imagine this, a caravan of 11 Land Cruisers all driven by crazy young locals, up and down double black diamonds on the steepest slopes in the alps, just not quite as high. We were in the last car, the girls were up front somewhere. (I had a flashback of the warm up ride with Paul Pigue in Houston during the rodeo trail ride, but this was no horse trail, we were going much faster, say about 100kph, it seemed.) Alex and I did some screaming from the back seat. Chris said if he screamed, Sammy our driver, could slap him. It was scarey fun and the best part was that Chris was not driving.

Inspirations
(Photos removed by request)
This morning I was sent by numerous relatives and friends a God Bless America video by some High School Choir. I didn't open it at first then after receiving it three times figured I better watch it.
Well, as I drank my coffee across the world, hearing this age old battle song with a beautiful slideshow of Jesus and Red White and Blue I felt humbled, and free. I am free to practice my faith here in a Muslim country, and religion is being taken out of what our country stands for. It's sad. We will continue to pray for our soldiers and you can see it too if you click on God Bless America above.

Weekend review
Productive weekend in Doha. Friday market shopping, then family Tennis match (I stink) but Chris made friends with Phillip our little next doot neighbor, Photoshoot at church (Catholic this week), Volunteered at school Elementary Olympic day, Girls painted piano keys in Ashlynn's room, Laid out at our wonderful pool, and I did 15 minutes of water wiggle, (my new made up exercise program in the hot tub). The weather this weekend was fabulous. Perfect. Sunny warm with a nice breeze. Yes, I am old if I discuss the weather, damn.
The highlight to me was the wholesale fish market on Friday morning. I about died after realizing I had no battery in my camera, what a sick feeling. I must go back. It was amazing, although the stinch was unbarable for the first 3 minutes, I tried real hard not to gag, then finally, something came over me and I started thinking it was cool instead of disgusting. The entire place is wet nasty fish guts on the floor, everyone entering had rolled up there pants and all these really old and dirty fishermen holding up crabs and lobsters and fish saying "scuse me madam, scuse me, buy my fish - very fresh"... We bought a huge Hammor 4 1/2 kilos and had it cleaned by the two men smiling in the picture. They were so excited to be on film, Chris told me I was interrupting the production. I missed the best shot though, they held the fish up but my darn camera went dead. I wished I could put a video on here so you could have heard the noise of it all, probably about 25 wrinkled faced 70 yr old fish cleaners all around the room with little tomahawk type axes beating the fish, chopping off thier heads and fins, bam bam bam, like a very loud weird sort of chaotic warrior beat. There were hundreds of all different kinds of people there, as Friday is the big crowd. I felt like I was in a movie, I was about the only girl in the place, definatley the only cute white girl. I'm not lying, felt pretty popular. Little smiling boys follow you around carrying a banana box to hold your slimy purchases. We paid 1 QR a Kilo for the Jumbo fish to be cleaned with an axe. That equals to less than $2. USD. Then tipped the little smiling Shi Lankan fish holder 10QR which included the cleaning of 3 kilos of shrimp, $3 bucks. We cooked it up for a large table consisting of mostly 16 yr old kids last night, and had left overs today. More pictures of that next time I go, hopfully next week when Kathy and Jeff Ix are here. Oh yes, visitors from Geneva. We are delighted.
I can't figure out how to do spell check... forgive me.
I am addicted to blogging.

Morning walk on the Corniche
"Mom's gone Mild" took off on our regular Thursday morning energetic walk along the corniche. This time I brought my little camera. The weather was warm, probably in the 80's, very nice. The tourquoise icy blue clear water and the cloudless sky were close to the exact same color today. Here are a few shots from the views we see every Thursday morning. If you click on the picture you can see it bigger. Everyone, have a good weekend.
Prayers for WA
WA and I have been friends for over 20 years. We shared a few memorable days in Italy together before I left Milan, and recently a coffee in Houston over the holidays. It is impossible to explain how much he means to me. His sensitive and hilarious personality has brightened my life, and he was an unbelievable friend during the dark days after we lost David. WA was instrumental in helping me have the zest for life that I have today with Chris. He has visited me all over the world. One time he put mint toothpaste on his lips in Switzerland thinking it was lip balm. Today he is in Everson Washington at the foothills of Mt. Baker, in a log cabin. Please keep WA in your prayers. He is recovering from radiation treatments for his cancer in his neck and face. Where is your toupee now?
Nic's got a job!
Big News for the gang... Nic has got a job! Not just any job, but one that we all can enjoy. He is in the management program for the Intercontiental Hotel Group. Starting in Operations in Austin Texas, then will be working abroad in a year or so. (Probably some wonderful destination we can all visit him at, in Italy)
We are so proud of him. This is his gift, and I feel completely sure he will accomplish all he sets out to do. WAY TO GO NICHOLAS!!!! His finance degree will be essential as he works for his long term goals of owning and selling his own restaurants. It is in his blood, no matter how much Grandpa Dan tried to discourage him. I have already named it, "Patrizi's, the third generation...." What do you think?
We will have to give him a month or so before we find out how much the "friends and family discount" will be.
It's Thursday the weekend, (like Friday) in Doha...
Margaritas and Quesadillas tonight at the Pratts.

This is for you Melinda!
So much to say... This blog is brought to you, in honor of Melinda Trawick, my dear sweet precious friend. I will do my best to update it weekly, although real life does get in the way. Surely you are here, in my world, on your own free will. I would never want to give the impression I am pushing my incredible life travels or boring daily entries on you. I hope you find these pages and photos intriguing and interesting and fun and maybe a bit closer to us all. As you know, we love and treasure our family and friends near and far and hopfully you can understand more deeply where in the world Doha Qatar is, by reading this. Thank you for visiting me today.
